Update on SmartWorking
Kirsty Leivers emphasised the importance of optimising time spent in the office to achieve the objectives set by management, based on the results of the latest Pulse survey. Currently, the average time spent in the office is 2.8 days per week, with disparities between entities, particularly in Europe. The relationship at work is influenced by this presence, particularly by social interactions, which strengthen employee engagement.
For an effective return, the quality of workspaces is essential. AXA must guarantee fairness, adapt its spaces, and support its employees, allowing the necessary flexibility for those who need it most. Managers have a key role to play in guiding this transition, combining optimisation of time spent in the office with flexibility.
This process, which is more complex than a simple change, requires collective reflection, investment and local adaptation. The goal is to achieve three days of weekly presence, while respecting inclusion, particularly for people with disabilities, and integrating a sustainability approach in collaboration with the Sustainability team.
The priorities are to support employees, organise spaces in a coherent manner and provide managers with the resources to carry out this transition. Considered the biggest since the pandemic, this transition must be carried out methodically and on schedule to ensure its success.
Followup on Landoy Charter implementation
Marine Palies points out that AXA aims to create a working environment where every employee, regardless of age, feels valued, committed and able to give their best. According to the social report, more than 90% of employees over the age of 50 have participated in at least one non-compulsory training course. The Group remains committed to this goal and encourages the sharing of best practices.
The ‘Daring is Ageless’ campaign, scheduled for the autumn, aims to break down age-related prejudices by showing that age should not limit risk-taking, mobility or learning. It features posters illustrating five age-related biases, highlighting inspiring employee stories with a strong message: it is never too late to evolve and pursue your dreams.
The aim is to inspire and promote diversity of experience by spreading this message globally between mid-October and mid-November, with a local version planned for 2026 to reinforce its impact.
In addition, the fifth edition of the inclusion survey, launched on 16 September, will enable the company to gather valuable insights on the topic of age. Employee participation is essential to identify areas for action with high potential.
Look Back to Secretariat's work
The secretariat has devoted considerable effort to the topic of artificial intelligence, the central theme of the semester, which will also be on the agenda of the October Bureau meeting and the November plenary session.
In summary, it is important to clearly define principles of ethics, transparency, explainability and human decision-making, while maintaining ongoing social dialogue and building solutions collaboratively with teams to facilitate their adoption.
