Bureau meeting in April 2023

19.06.2023

The EWC Bureau held its monthly meeting at the GIE AXA offices in La Défense.

Alban de Mailly Nesle, Group Chief Financial Officer, opened the session with a presentation of the 2022 results, before handing over to Olga Kravchenko, Group HR Operations Director, and Valérie Cortyl, HR Data Manager, for a presentation of the Group's social report.

2022 results

In 2022, the AXA Group achieved an excellent performance despite a difficult economic environment. Its solvency margin is solid. Its business model is based on two pillars: commercial insurance worldwide and personal insurance in Europe and Japan, which sets it apart from its competitors. The Group paid out 50 billion euros in claims to its customers, invested 30 billion euros in the economy, paid 3.5 billion euros in dividends to its shareholders and 8.3 billion euros in salaries and bonuses to its employees. Inflation and rising premiums are concerns, but the Group has worked on purchasing to contain them. It has also increased its exposure to natural catastrophes to compensate for the lack of cover from its reinsurers. AXA's various business lines reported excellent profitability in property-casualty insurance, improved results in life insurance, a slightly weaker situation in health insurance due to Covid claims in Japan, and disappointing results in international reinsurance. Asset management had a difficult year, but the Group's results remained solid.

Social Report 2022

The social data report is a complex exercise involving the collection, consolidation and analysis of AXA Group data, which is then audited. It tracks key human capital indicators. Here are the key points: the attrition rate remains lower than that of competitors; internal mobility is stable, with a third of vacancies filled internally; absenteeism has risen slightly but is back to pre-Covid levels; the training budget has increased and all employees have attended training courses. Recruitment is a major challenge for the insurance sector, and steps are being taken to acquire the necessary skills. Data is analysed at entity and Group level, and efforts are made to facilitate the recruitment process.
